The Good Neighbors, Good Neighbor Pizzeria's team, played their first Underdog season in 2026 and finished it wanting more innings. The club is how we keep that energy going through the fall, on our own field, with whoever wants to play.
We'll play until the weather turns, take the worst of winter off, and pick it back up in spring. You don't need any connection to the team, the pizzeria, or the league. The club is the whole neighborhood's.
Open practice. We warm up, throw, and take turns at batting practice, grounders and fly balls. If enough people turn out, we play a loose few innings. Come late, leave early, nobody's counting. We play through a Portland drizzle; real rain calls it.
Periodically, we'll have a pickup game at the park on a Saturday afternoon. Folks will show up, warm up together, then we'll divide into teams and play a game. Watch for the posters around the neighborhood, or ask at a Wednesday practice whether one is coming up.

There's no signup, no dues, and no need to tell anyone you're coming. Walk onto the field a little before six, say hello, and someone will hand you a ball. That's it, you're in the club. If you're late, find someone to do some warm up throws with, then get out on the field.
The Woodlawn Softball Field sits at the north end of the park, off NE 11th next to the community garden.
Wednesdays are for learning. Catching, throwing, swinging the bat, with people who are happy to show you how. Bring a glove and a willingness to miss a few.
No. There's no attendance or commitment. Come hang out with us once, or every week, we're just excited to play ball and hope you are too.
Co-ed slow pitch, adults of any age, any fitness. None of us are going pro, we're just out standing in the field together.
It's an adult game: batted balls come off fast, so the field itself isn't a place for young kids.
Drizzle, we play. Real rain or a soaked infield and people simply don't come, and if it's down in the low 40s we'll probably skip too. If the weather looks bad, assume a quiet park.
Please do. There's a stone bench by the field and room for blankets behind it. Just keep an ear out for "heads!" if a foul ball comes your way.
No standings, no records, no umpires here. Some of us play a league season with The Good Neighbors or other local teams; the club itself is just a standing invitation to the park.
